UAFA Reaches Record High Number of Co-Sponsors in Both Chambers of Congress

When two new House cosponsors came on to the Uniting American Families Act yesterday, the bill reached a record high number of co-sponsors, surpassing the prior record of 130.
We now have 132 co-sponsors in the House, including our lead, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY). This news comes in addition to the news of a record high reached last week in the Senate of 25. UAFA now has more co-sponsors in the House of Representatives than any other immigration bill.
AND – More Congressional offices have informed us that they will sign on to UAFA in upcoming days.
Our two new co-sponsors are Congressmen Jim Himes (D-CT) and James Clyburn (D-SC). Clyburn (pictured) holds the third most powerful position in the House of Representatives as Majority Whip.
The eight Representatives and Senators that have co-sponsored UAFA since the beginning of September come from across the United States, including South Carolina, New Mexico, Iowa, Virginia, California, Ohio, New York, and Connecticut.
Congratulations to all of the grassroots advocates who have worked tirelessly to bring on your elected officials to the Uniting American Families Act. And, if you are a constituent of Congressmen Himes or Clyburn or any of our other co-sponsors, please call them, via the Capitol switchboard, at 202-224-3121 and thank them for standing up for our families!
